The Los Angeles Urban Forest Equity: Assessment, Tools, and Recommendations report presents research and strategies developed by the Urban Forest Equity Collective (UFEC) to expand tree canopy and address environmental inequities in Los Angeles’ lowest-canopied neighborhoods. The report analyzes historic and current factors driving unequal tree distribution, introduces planning tools such as the Planting Tiers Framework, and provides data-driven recommendations to guide equitable urban forestry investments and community-engaged planning.

The South LA Tree Coalition participated in the Urban Forest Equity Collective as a community partner, helping ensure that the perspectives and needs of frontline neighborhoods are represented in the report’s analysis, engagement process, and recommendations.
