This community-driven strategy outlines targeted actions to grow tree canopy in Central Alameda—one of LA’s most heat- and pollution-burdened, low-canopy neighborhoods. Grounded in local surveys, workshops, and on-the-ground site assessments, the plan identifies tiered planting opportunities (from planting park and school trees to street redesigns), lists prioritized blocks, and highlights funding, stewardship, and workforce pathways to ensure durable benefits for health, shade, and stormwater capture. Practical, equity-focused, and ready for implementation, it centers resident priorities and local partnerships to expand nature where it’s needed most.
